They came in as favorites and on the first day of competition they demonstrated their potential. Cruz Azul Women have kicked off the Group Stage of the women’s category with two wins in two matches.
The Mexican team debuted with a solid victory against SD Colonial (0-2) with goals from Sofía López and Paulette Ximena. They then narrowly defeated Fundación DYF (1-0). Dasha Mayleen scored Cruz Azul’s only goal, jumping into the stands to celebrate with her family.
Tight in the group
The single group in the F16 category, excluding Cruz Azul, is red-hot. SD Colonial, Fundación DYF, Garrincha FC, and Barça Academy have each won one match and are tied with three points. The JDB Project has yet to make its debut.
