LA Galaxy becomes the U14 champions

The LA Galaxy were crowned U14 category champions after defeating Aston Villa 3-1 in the tournament’s big final.

Who would have thought that Aston Villa, having lost the first match of the MICFootball Punta Cana tournament (1-0 against ACFFI), would be capable of reaching the final of the U14 category? Well, it was said and done. But in the fifty minutes of the decisive duel for the title, their rival, LA Galaxy, took the initiative and emerged victorious.

At halftime in the final, the North American team was already leading 0-1, thanks to a goal from Nicolas Ibrahim. In the second half, goals from Matthew Julian Leone and Devrim Batur brought the team closer to victory. Kachinga Siame’s goal for Aston Villa gave the English team no chance of fighting for the victory, as they had qualified for the final by winning the semi-finals and quarter-finals on penalties.

LA Galaxy were superior in the decisive phase of the MICFootball Punta Cana. Barça Academy RD were no match in the quarterfinals (6-0), but there was more excitement in Saturday’s semifinals. The United States team was superior to ACFFI only from the penalty spot (5-4), as the two teams played to a goalless draw in regulation time.

LA Galaxy had only conceded one draw in the group stage (1-1 against College Cup). They won by landslide against Catala FC Academy and Downtown Soccer Academy.

The first edition of MICFootball Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic will see LA Galaxy win in the U14 division, as well as One FC win in the consolation round, defeating Club Real Deportivo RD 4-2 in the final.
